Situation

Operation SHOOTER is a weekend collaboration between Green Beret Fitness and The SawMill Training Complex. This original run/shoot event is based on the British Commando Test - the Endurance Course - and candidates will require their own rifle and ammunition.

Mission

Candidates must complete the 6 +/- mile run, then fire 10 rounds at a target. In order to earn the GBF dog tags you must complete the run and shoot in dog tag standards, not just one.

Run

Under 75 minutes = Dog Tag

Under 100 minutes = Pass

Over 100 minutes = Fail

Shoot

Over 8 on target = Dog Tags

6 or Over on target = Pass

Under 6 on target = Fail

Execution

This event is based on the infamous Royal Marines Endurance Course. It is the closest experience you will get without signing up to earn the green beret.

Candidates will be released from the start line in groups and will complete the course at best individual effort while carrying 21 lbs of kit + water + rifle. The course will be well marked and will consist of off-road, on track, and water obstacles. Candidates should ensure their kit is waterproof.

Upon finishing the 6 +/- mile course, candidates will be invited forward onto the range and given a couple of minutes to ‘battle clean’ their rifle. They will then be moved onto the firing point where they will fire 10 rounds at a NATO Figure 11 replica target.

To PASS. Complete the run in under 100 minutes and hit a minimum of 6 rounds on target.

To earn GBF DOG TAGS. Complete the run in under 75 minutes and hit a minimum of 8 rounds on target.

Unsuccessful candidates, who take longer than 100 minutes, or who fail the shoot, will be given the opportunity to re-run after lunch.

There will be an opportunity to run the 6-mile course (no kit) on Friday evening between 1700 and 2000, prior to a social evening. There will also be optional range time on Sunday from 0900 to 1500 with the SawMill staff on hand to assist and impart their significant experience and knowledge.

The first 10 candidates to sign up will receive a free GBF Operation SHOOTER t-shirt. Operation SHOOTER T-shirts, with two designs, will be available to purchase for any remaining candidates for $30.
